Yes. PVC is non-porous, which makes our plantation shutters highly resistant to water, moisture, and humidity. This makes them the most suitable choice for bathrooms, kitchens, or ensuites. However, for outdoor use, powder-coated aluminium shutters are a better option than PVC shutters. Please visit www.diyplantationshutters.com.au, operated by Shutterwise.

It depends on your windows, but we generally recommend using frames. Please watch the video “Plantation Shutter Check Measure” in the How to Guide section. https://youtu.be/7FYQbCBPolg
When you choose Shutterwise, we’ll guide you in determining whether a frame is required.
No. Watch our step-by-step videos on check measure, panel assembly, and installation. They provide a complete guide to DIY shutter kits.
If only the pin is broken, purchase a pack of spring-loaded pins (not standard pins). We offer two types; the length is less important than the diameter. Check the punched hole in the stile. If neither fits, you may need to use a drill bit to enlarge or deepen the hole.
Freight costs are calculated based on the shutter’s square meterage and your delivery area. Register your shipping address during checkout to view the exact cost before purchase.
Our plantation shutters are made out of either PVC or timber, both of which are a great solution as a window covering within the home.
Our PVC shutters feature a dense outer layer of PVC with a tough aluminum core for enhanced stability. Designed to last a lifetime, PVC plantation shutters are extremely sturdy, resilient to sagging, and require little to no ongoing maintenance. Conversely, timber shutters are significantly lighter than PVC shutters but are equally as durable. Great for insulation purposes, timber plantation shutters will keep your home warm in winter and cool in summer.
If you are having trouble choosing between PVC and timber shutters, don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team; we will be more than happy to explore your options with you.
At Shutterwise, we manufacture PVC shutters locally and supply timber shutters (for special shapes) from overseas. Our Melbourne-based factory focuses exclusively on PVC shutters.
PVC, short for PolyVinyl Chloride, is a synthetic plastic and is used to create shutters that resemble timber. PVC shutters are a good alternative to wooden shutters and contain an aluminum core for stability and to prevent warping.
